See this? I love you more than that!

How much does God love you?

If you’re a father, you have the opportunity to see this in action…
Your child has had a bad day.  Every privilege that can possibly be taken away has been lost.
His fragile heart is broken.  He comes to you and just sits down beside you, leans into you, and stays there… motionless.
Your arm wraps around him.  You give him a little squeeze.

Now, outwardly, he may be frowning at the discipline that he has received.
But at this moment, inwardly, his heart is soaring.  He knows that he’s “still good” with Dad…  that no matter how bad his behavior may have been that day, he can still find love and refuge in his father’s arms.  Tears may flow, but he is completely secure in the knowledge that you love him no matter what.

Can you visualize this with your son or daughter?

Now imagine yourself as that child.  You see that your Father loves you.  You are secure in knowing that He will never forsake you.
But here’s the wonderful thing!
We think we’ve seen the extent of his love… but we are limited by our understanding.
Only through faith in Christ and His Spirit in us can we even begin to understand the immensity and capacity of love our God has for us.

Ephesians 3:16-19 (New King James Version)

16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

…to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge…

Maybe you need to let go of your self-reliance, your stubbornness to walk your own path, your survival instinct that tells you  that you don’t need anyone… anything…
He is waiting to wrap you in His arms – to let you know He is there for you always…

How much does God love you?

See this?  I love you much more than that!
